In a scathing rebuke, prominent journalist Tucker Carlson has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of being “complicit” in Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iran, warning that the escalating conflict could plunge the United States into an “all-out war” in the Middle East.
Carlson, a key Trump ally and vocal critic of American intervention in the Middle East, did not mince words in his condemnation of the president’s stance. In what he described as his “final newsletter before all-out war,” Carlson argued that the U.S. is deeply entangled in the conflict due to its long-standing alliance with Israel and its history of providing military aid.
“While the American military may not have physically perpetrated the assault, years of funding and sending weapons to Israel, which Donald Trump just bragged about on Truth Social, undeniably place the U.S. at the center of [the attacks by Israel],” Carlson wrote.
He further criticized Trump for his prior knowledge of the Israeli operation and his public praise of the attacks as “excellent,” accusing him of being complicit in the act of war. “Washington knew these attacks would happen. They aided Israel in carrying them out.”
The attacks Friday, June 13, targeted Iran’s nuclear and military sites. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operation, which sought to cripple the Islamic republic’s nuclear program and military capabilities, reportedly killed several top Iranian military leaders.
In turn, they have sparked a dangerous tit-for-tat exchange – with Tehran dubbing the attacks as a “declaration of war.” The Islamic republic retaliated by launching drones and missiles at Israeli cities. (Related: Iran blasts Israel with 180 ballistic missiles; Israel preparing to STRIKE BACK.)
Carlson’s critique extends to what he perceives as hypocrisy among those who claim to be “America First” but are now embroiled in a conflict that could have far-reaching consequences for the United States. “Politicians purporting to be ‘America First’ can’t now credibly turn around and say they had nothing to do with it,” he added.
The escalating conflict has reignited debates over the U.S. role in the Middle East and the potential for unintended consequences. Carlson, known for his fiery commentary, has long been a critic of neo-conservative policies that he believes have dragged the U.S. into unnecessary wars. In his newsletter, he questioned the strategic rationale behind the current situation, asking, “How any of this helps the United States?”
Carlson also highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the next round of nuclear negotiations with Iran. In a moment of reflection, Carlson urged readers to consider the broader implications of the conflict. “It’s worth taking a step back and wondering how any of this helps the United States,” he wrote. “We can’t think of a single way.”
As the world watches the unfolding crisis with bated breath, Carlson’s words serve as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between diplomacy and military action. The situation underscores the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to avoid a catastrophic regional war that could have global repercussions.
