Some political observers, including this publication, have likened deep state figures who participated in the “Spygate” coup operation to depose POTUS Donald Trump to acts of treason, but before now no lawmaker has used the “T” word.
That changed Sunday when Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, noted that statements by FBI agents allegedly ‘investigating collusion’ between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia sounded “an awful lot like a coup, and it could well be treason.”
That’s a very powerful statement from a sitting U.S. congressperson, and certainly not something you hear everyday from Cheney.
In an interview with ABC News’ Martha Raddatz on “This Week,” Cheney echoed the president and Attorney General William Barr, as well as several other Republican lawmakers, that the origins of the hoax investigation must itself be probed.
“We had people that are at the highest levels of our law enforcement … saying that they were going to stop a duly-elected president of the United States,” Cheney told Raddatz. “That sounds an awful lot like a coup and it could well be treason.” (Related: Treason: Docs PROVE Deep State hacks Obama, Comey, Brennan, and Clapper aided Russian efforts to divide Americans with ‘Spygate.’)

She also said that “we need to know more” about who else was involved, including fired FBI Director James Comey, fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and other ranking officials within the Justice Department, the intelligence community, and throughout Barack Obama’s inner circle and bureaucracy, The Hill reported.
It wasn’t just fired FBI counterintelligence official Peter Strzok and his paramour, Lisa Page, who were talking about “stopping” Trump from taking office; they were acting on behalf of someone else, or several someones. And each of them is equally guilty of an attempted coup.
“Think about the fact that we had people that are at the highest levels of our law enforcement in this nation saying that they were going to stop a duly-elected president of the United States, saying they needed an insurance policy against him,” Cheney said.
“That is something that simply cannot happen. We have to have confidence in our law enforcement, and the attorney general has got to get to the bottom of what happened, how it was that those people were allowed to misuse and abuse their power that way,” she added.
It became obvious on Sunday that, just two days after POTUS Trump ordered all appropriate agencies to declassify all relevant documents related to the Spygate scandal, his surrogates and his allies were launching a full-court press to get the details out.
In addition to Cheney, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeared on cable news programs Sunday to pronounce that the Trump administration “already” knows there was a substantial level of corruption at the highest levels of DoJ and the FBI.
“We already know that there was an outrageous amount of corruption that took place at the F.B.I. They leaked information. They lied. They were specifically working trying to take down the president, trying to hurt the president,” Sanders said on NBC‘s “Meet The Press,” The Hill noted.
“We’ll leave the final call up to the attorney general and he’ll get to the bottom of it. But we think Americans deserve the truth. The president’s asked for that. And we should expect nothing less,” she added.
AG Barr now has all the authority he needs to look at and release whatever documents he feels are necessary in order to let Americans see exactly what was done, who did what, and why — up to and including, hopefully, former President Obama, without who’s approval “Spygate” could never have moved forward.
The rats are already throwing each other under the bus, denying, and pointing fingers. As the heat gets turned up by AG Barr and his primary investigator, U.S. Attorney John Durham, expect the accusations to fly even more.
