Iran has promised a very “harsh” response to Israel’s latest attack on its embassy and consulate in Damascus, Syria.
Iran’s foreign minister slammed the attack as “a violation of all international obligations and conventions,” with Syria itself calling what Israel did a “terrorist attack.”
The attack reportedly occurred at the very moment a high-level meeting was taking place at the facility. Hossein Akbari, Iran’s Ambassador to Syria, was present for the gathering but was not injured.
Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi did not survive, though. Zahedi was a senior commander in the elite Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Reports indicate that an additional two top IRGC commanders may have also been among the slain.
“Tasnim reported that Zahedi’s deputy was also killed in the strike,” a regional media source also confirmed.
#Israel‘s strike in #Damascus today is a huge development & a major escalation.

While it remains to be seen if this latest provocation leads to another world war, it is almost certain that it will result in a major regional conflict throughout the Middle East.
Lebanon and Yemen have been bombing Israel with ballistic missiles and drones for several months now, and Israel has been responding here and there to these attacks. What Israel did to Iran’s embassy, though, crosses a red line into “uncharted territory” because the targets were leaders across the Middle Eastern region.
It is very possible that Iran could retaliate by targeting Israeli embassies around the world, or worse.
Israel reportedly conducted the strike during the day, which is not usually the case. The attack also directly hit an annex of the embassy rather than the main building, though both were damaged.
Israel was aiming for top officials and leaders in the IRGC. Iran seems to be the nation that Israel fears most, and the nation that it wants the United States to wage war on for Israel’s protection.

The official death toll stands at eight people. Syria confirmed significant damage to the embassy and its surroundings.
Earlier in the week, Israel’s Eilat navy base on the Red Sea was targeted in what media reports are describing as an unprecedented targeted drone launch from an Iraqi militia allegedly backed by Iran.
Oil prices are now spiking, the excuse being all these attacks and the rising global tensions they are creating.
“Killing of top Iran Quds Force commander in Damascus is a major blow … but Iranian media says bldg destroyed was part of Iranian consulate – Israel hit a diplomatic mission which should enjoy immunity – Israel has crossed red lines – how will Iran react?” commented Al Jazeera correspondent Zeina Khodr about the matter.
“So, let me get this straight, IDF intelligence is good enough to find out when one specific individual is going to be located at a precise time and space in a foreign country, yet they didn’t see over 1000 HAMAS terrorists’ stream over the border and to kill and capture countless Israelis?” wrote another commenter, making an excellent point about the false flag nature of the October 7 Hamas attack.
