InfoWars founder Alex Jones has exposed the Secret Service’s double standard, with how the agency shut down the city of Austin for an event to be graced by President Joe Biden.
The independent journalist filmed various spots in the city being completely shut down for miles as both Secret Service and the Austin Police Department (Austin PD) clear the way for Biden. The route being cleared stretched from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library, where he spoke on July 29 about the Supreme Court being packed with Republican nominees.
Jones pointed out the double standards in a series of posts on the X platform. He noted how the government is “going all-out to protect Biden” while in Austin by “taking over large sections” of the city and “creating massive traffic jams.”
These measures, Jones continued, were absent during former President Donald Trump’s campaign rally on July 13. In contrast, the government intentionally stood down and allowed Thomas Matthew Crooks to shoot at the former president.
“All hail the arrival of our shambling puppet President Joe Biden, where Secret Service meets with local Austin police for three hours to block traffic and spread gridlock,” the InfoWars founder commented. “Meanwhile in Butler, Pennsylvania, the Secret Service can’t even be bothered to meet with the local counter-sniper teams for the July 13th Trump rally.”
Jones also confirmed that the Austin PD had a three-hour meeting with the Secret Service in preparation for Biden’s visit. Aside from this, he also noted that the airspace within a 30-mile radius of the city was a no-fly zone. In contrast, the venue where Trump held his campaign rally had none.
User @Thatsssfuego pointed out: “Biden rolls through Austin in an armored motorcade, and they shut down everything for [half a] mile – including the highway. Trump can’t even get 300 feet protection in the open. How pathetic.”
Meanwhile, user @BTexas1969 shared the common sense thought of their friend who was in Austin. “Literally every single road around [the] airport shut down for Biden. I can’t get [two miles] within [the] airport,” the friend lamented.
“All freeways miles away shut [down], and they couldn’t find a shooter on the roof? Ridiculous. So anyone with a flight … can’t access [the] airport, so why bother? How about airlines alert their customers? You can’t get there and change flights. So pissed.”
In contrast with the level of security Biden received on July 29, Trump received minimal security from the Secret Service. While Crooks managed to graze the former president’s ear, he also killed one and critically injured two. The 20-year-old would-be assassin was neutralized by Secret Service snipers moments after he pulled the trigger.
Following Trump’s failed assassination attempt on July 13, the Secret Service came up with a laundry list of excuses for its inability to protect the former president. It blamed the local police at Butler for their alleged lack of communication and even blamed the “sloped” roof of the American Glass Research building where Crooks positioned himself. Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who was in charge of the agency at the time of Trump’s assassination attempt, stepped down on July 23. In her resignation letter, she admitted that the Secret Service “fell short” of its mission “to protect our nation’s leaders.” The Department of Homeland Security later announced that Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe would occupy the position Cheatle vacated.
