A migrant allegedly linked to the notorious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) robbed a Manhattan prosecutor inside her apartment.
The suspect was identified as Brandon Simosa, 25, who was arrested by the New York City Police Department (NYPD). He was accused of breaking into the apartment of the unnamed 38-year old prosecutor, an employee of the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
According to the NYPD, the incident happened at approximately 2 a.m. on Nov. 17 near 44th Street and Ninth Avenue. Simosa allegedly followed the woman into her building, demanded money and seized credit cards and a cell phone from her bag. The migrant even performed a lewd act before fleeing the scene with his loot.
NYPD members apprehended Simosa on Nov. 19 near a former hotel repurposed as a migrant shelter. Despite frequenting the area, authorities identified him as homeless at the time of his arrest, the Pulse continued. The Venezuelan migrant was charged with several offenses including sexually motivated robbery and burglary, grand larceny, possession of stolen property and drug-related charges.
“Law enforcement sources have linked the Row and other shelters in New York City (NYC) to TdA, a notorious gang originally established in Venezuelan prisons. Police attribute a spate of robberies in NYC, particularly those targeting women, to the group’s presence,” the outlet continued.
“TdA has been seen operating across the U.S. under the Biden-Harris regime, taking over apartment buildings in Colorado and extorting the residents for money. Members of the gang have also been linked to murders in the U.S., including a killing in Connecticut and the murder of Laken Riley.” (Related: Aurora, Colorado adding $10M in police funding to combat increased Tren de Aragua gang activity.)
A day after Simosa’s arrest, a judge found Venezuelan migrant Jose Ibarra guilty of the death of 22-year-old Riley. He was found guilty of all ten counts including malice murder, felony murder and kidnapping over the grisly death of the University of Georgia (UGA) nursing student.
According to a separate report by the Pulse, it was revealed during testimony that Ibarra and other migrants who entered the U.S. illegally were flown from NYC to Georgia on so-called “humanitarian” flights. The outgoing administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris paid for these flights.
Ibarra – who is suspected of having ties to TdA like Simosa – murdered Riley in February as she jogged on dirt trails on the UGA campus in Athens, Georgia. At the start of his trial, Ibarra pleaded not guilty to the crimes. The killer’s attorneys attempted to exonerate Ibarra and pin the blame on his brother, but this effort was in vain.
The migrant waived a jury trial, with his defense team opting instead for a judge to render a verdict in the case. Given the judge’s guilty verdict, the next step in Ibarra’s trial is his sentencing. He faces the possibility of life in prison with no parole.
